We’re excited to announce that Wave’s new platform will launch in Closed Beta on October 17, 2024. This is more than a milestone—it’s the culmination of years of R&D, iteration, and re-imagining live entertainment. With this launch, we open a new chapter, welcoming creators and fans to a next-generation 3D entertainment destination.

Wave was founded by musicians with a deep passion for merging music, game engines, and XR technology. From the start, our goal wasn’t just to replicate virtual concerts. We wanted to empower artists to elevate their performances in ways only possible through our platform.

At Wave, we love being on the bleeding edge. Seven years ago, we embraced VR in its infancy and realized we were creating something unique. Our “Waves” were more than just virtual concerts – they were live, transformative experiences that fostered energy and presence. The real-time togetherness of our shows deepened connections, sparked creativity, and offered people a space to unite through music. Beyond entertainment, Waves are about community, expression, and belonging.

Our early vision resonated with artists like Imogen Heap, Glitch Mob, Lindsey Stirling, and Galantis who recognized the potential of VR and immersive performance environments as powerful tools for expression. Their belief in what we were building fueled our drive to think even bigger.

As we grew, we listened to feedback from artists, fans, and our community. Their insights led us to explore new mediums and expand beyond VR. We created interactive shows on 2D social platforms such as TikTok and worked with global artists like The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, and Calvin Harris. Along the way, we made pivots, recognizing that living in the future while operating a business is a unique challenge for startups.

Now, we’re bringing together all the pieces to create a 24/7 live entertainment hub in the metaverse – like a virtual music festival that never sleeps. Whether on mobile, streaming 2D, or fully immersed in 3D VR, our platform welcomes you. We’re especially excited to return to VR, where new tech advancements and our expertise will unlock deeper immersion.

Creating immersive 3D entertainment is still complex and costly, limited to a small group of creators. Wave’s long-term product roadmap is committed to developing tools that simplify 3D content creation and democratize show development to serve artists of all sizes – from emerging to established. We’re starting with music, but our vision will expand to include other formats like comedy, sports, talk shows, and more.

Our Closed Beta introduces several updates that enhance the experience for consumers and artists, marking just the beginning of the exciting developments to come:

  • Expanded accessibility: We’ll have multi-platform access so consumers can engage how and where they want. We’re starting with VR and 2D social streaming, with plans to add more endpoints in the future.
  • Improved graphics and performance: Our investment in Unreal Engine unlocks next-level visual fidelity and seamless performance, enabling richer, more interactive, and immersive show experiences.
  • Better artist experience: We’ve created Wave Stage in Culver City, a welcoming and immersive studio performance space designed to capture the energy of a live show and enable bi-directional interaction between the performer and their audience.
  • Faster, more efficient show production: We’ve upgraded our content creation tools to streamline the process, enabling quicker, more cost-effective show production so we can deliver more shows, more often.
  • Resources to empower creators: We’re partnering with a diverse group of Beta creators, equipping them with the tools and best practices they need to experiment, innovate, and drive our format forward over time.

We look forward to welcoming early users into our Closed Beta to preview what’s ahead and gather feedback to improve our platform. If you haven’t already, join our waitlist to get access to our Closed Beta. Let’s go!
